Shanthakumaran Sreesanth plays cricket again, takes the first step towards his return

Former India cricketer Shanthakumaran Sreesanth is back to what he does best, playing cricket. The dramatic speedster was out of cricketing action after he was victimized for a spot fixing scandal in during IPL 2013 which led to a life ban. But with the Kerala High Court quashing the imposed ban on him, the cricketer took part in an unsanctioned exhibition match involving members of Malayalam film industry on Tuesday.

Sreesanth unrolled the Indian flag and was welcomed with a bouquet before the match. Sreesanth looked unfit during the match which is obvious due to his long absence from cricket. However, the cricketer batted decently against the amateur attack. Sreesanth said that it is a nostalgic moment for him as he is starting his return from the same place where he started. He identified his next destination as Thiruvananthapuram with his eyes set on a national team comeback.
“I am really happy that I am back and I am beginning my return from the same ground where it all began. Now from here, I want to reach Thiruvananthapuram and from there upwards and back to the Indian team,”
The Kerala High court has asked the BCCI to lift the ban on the fast bowler because he was acquitted of the case in the year of 2015. But the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) remains firm on his decision and has said that they will appeal to a higher court.
Sreesanth has already challenged the BCCI on Twitter by saying that he will play cricket again and the board cannot stop him because they are not God. he also mentioned that he is only asking for his livelihood and not begging in front of them.
Sreesanth was banned in 2013 along with three other players when he represented the Rajasthan Royals franchise in the IPL.
