Shanthakumaran Sreesanth taking inspiration from Mohammad Amir
"Today I´m feeling much better than how I felt when I got my maiden call-up to the Indian team."
34 year old Shanthakumaran Sreesanth has been released from the shackles of the life ban by the Kerala High Court. The Court has also requested the BCCI to not drag the matter to the Supreme Court as the players was acquitted of the case in 2015. It is a huge sigh of relief for the bowler and Sreesanth has already started dreaming big. The bowlers aims to make a comeback into the national side after serving 4 years of the boycott.
Though a New Delhi High Court declared him free of charges in the year of 2015, Sreesanth’s life ban was not taken off by the BCCI. After Kerala High Court’s decision to quash the ban, Sreesanth stated that the feeling is much more soothing than what he felt during his debut for the national team.
What Sreesanth said:
“Today I´m feeling much better than how I felt when I got my maiden call-up to the Indian team,” said Sreesanth, who was banned with fellow Rajasthan Royals players Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan.
He went on to say that he and his family has gone through what the greatest of sinners does not go through. Sreesanth mentioned that the media made an issue out of a scratch and maybe that is how this cruel world functions.
“It is a new life for me. Even the biggest of criminals don´t go through what I or my family went through. “A small incident was portrayed in the wrong way in front of the world. Maybe that´s how the world works, I don´t know.”
Sreesanth cited the example of Pakistani spearhead Mohammad Amir, who overcame a similar situation. Amir was banned from cricket in the year of 2011 and had to spend a time period of 5 years away from the game. he made his return in early 2015 and proved his mettle once again. His heroics in the ICC Champions Trophy finals handed Pakistan their firs Champions Trophy triumph.
Sreesanth is keeping his fingers crossed as he is hoping for a similar turnaround in his career. “I just hope that happens in my career too,” said Sreesanth.
