Cricketers have some crazy fan following in India. And if you are a popular cricketer, then surely you will have many fans in the country. Rahul Dravid is one of those cricketers in India, who have some really good fan base. However, in an interview with cricket humorist Vikram Sathaye in 2016, the former cricketer revealed an incident with a fan which he would most likely want to forget.

During his candid chat, Dravid revealed one of the early stories of a fan. The former Indian captain said that it happened during his initial days in the international cricket. He revealed that a fan had come from all the way from Hyderabad, and his parents allowed her into the house.

‘It was a wake-up call for my parents’: Rahul Dravid

“I had just come from a tour and I was sleeping in the afternoon. When I woke up, my parents told me to go and meet this fan who had come all the way from Hyderabad. She was waiting there for an hour and a half. At first, I thought it would be a simple taking autograph or photograph thing,” Dravid said.

Continuing the story, the batsman says that the girl after talking with Rahul refused to leave. “She said, ‘no I am not going to leave. I have left my home and come. I will stay here only’ and I was taken aback”, the 47-year-old said.

After a lot of discussions, police had to be called and finally, the fan left. Her parents were informed as well and things happened smoothly. The right-handed batsman revealed that it was a wake-up call for his parents who would let any fan into their house.

“It ended quite well but it was a wake-up call for my parents that you don’t let anyone in just like that”, Rahul said while laughing.

Earlier in the interview, the former cricketer said that his parents would want him to interact with fans. He revealed that if any fan came to his house to meet him, his parents would let them in. Rahul said, “They would let them in and later on I had to go and like meet these fans and talk to them.” The ex-captain said that after the incident with the girl, his parents finally stopped doing that.
