Shehan Jayasuriya not to represent Sri Lanka anymore; packs bag for USA with family
Shehan Jayasuriya has donned the Sri Lanka jersey in 12 ODIs and 18 T20Is.
There is a big news that is awaiting you, if you are a Sri Lankan fan. Left-handed batsman Shehan Jayasuriya has reportedly informed the Sri Lankan Cricket Board that henceforth, he will not be offering his services for Sri Lanka, in domestic or international cricket as he is shifting to the United States of America (USA), along with his family.
After making his debut in the year 2015, Jayasuriya has had a stop-start career at the international level for the Islanders. He featured in 12 ODI’s and 18 T20Is for Sri Lanka. While he scored 195 runs in ODI cricket, Jayasuriya scored 241 runs in the shortest format of the game.
Jayasuriya also occasionally bowls off spin, and has picked up three wickets each in ODI and T20Is. He has not represented Sri Lanka in Test match cricket. The Twitter handle of the International Cricket Council (ICC), confirmed Jayasuriya’s departure.
“Shehan Jayasuriya has informed Sri Lanka Cricket that he will no longer be available for domestic or international tournaments, as he is moving to the USA with his family. Jayasuriya has represented Sri Lanka in 12 ODIs and 18 T20Is,” read the Tweet.

Sri Lanka’s disastrous campaign against South Africa
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka endured a disastrous campaign on their tour to South Africa. The islanders were thrashed by the hosts in both the Test matches, and the Sri Lankan batting line up crumbled in the land of the Proteas. Both the Test matches did not even last 5 days as the series turned out to be a damp squib. Next up, the Sri Lankan side will square off against England in a two match Test series at home. The first Test is slated to begin on 14th January 2021 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.
Sri Lanka have suffered a horrible downward spiral of fortunes as far as Test match cricket is concerned. Apart from a famous series victory against South Africa a couple of years back, and a one-off Test win against Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka have lost five out of their last eight Test series. They managed to draw a Test series against New Zealand at home.
