Shikhar Dhawan is not just a cricket but he is a character in the Indian cricket team. He plays his cricket with a lot of passion, is charged up all the time, always ready for Bhangra, one of the most loved players inside the team and also among the fans. Dhawan scored a fifty in the first T20I against Australia and got off to a breezing start in the last to set the team up beautifully in the chase. Thus, for scoring most runs in the series, he was awarded the Man of the Series.
The man walked up on the stage where the presenter Neroli Meadows was standing with a young mascot to award him the trophy. Dhawan picked the child up in his hands before accepting the honour. He was received by a huge cheer from the SCG crowd. When Neroli mentioned the roar, he said they love him a lot.
Gabbar also said he knows how to make them cheer louder. He then did his signature thigh-five that he does after taking a catch. The Indian fans just roared louder in appreciation. He was thrilled to see the amazing support the team had.
With a wave of blue present in the stands one could easily think it was a home game for the Men in Blue. Talking about his own performance the left-hander said that it feels good to get the runs for the team and even better if it helps the team level the series.
“Guess they love me a lot and I’ll make them cheer more (does the thigh-five). Tremendous to see Indian support. I’m sure they’ll support us for the Tests too. It was fun. As a batsman, when you score it always feels good. It’s good that we were able to draw this series,” Dhawan said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
