Shikhar Dhawan fumed as his family is left stranded at Dubai airport
Team India left for South Africa a day after the wedding reception of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma.
India opener Shikhar Dhawan has lashed out at the airline for their unprofessional behaviour while travelling to South Africa. Team India left for the gruelling tour earlier this week on Wednesday ahead of the first Test in Cape Town on January 5. Their travel was divided into two parts as they had to first board from Mumbai to Dubai after which they were scheduled to depart from South Africa. However, Dhawan’s children were asked for birth certificates in Dubai and were not allowed to board the flight to South Africa.
The security staff of Emirates airline stopped Dhawan’s wife and children from boarding the flight and were asked for the documents and the birth certificate of Zoravar. The family didn’t have the required documents as they weren’t informed of the same by the airline beforehand. Currently, they are left stranded in Dubai waiting for the documents to arrive as Shikhar Dhawan has reached the destination with his team. Naturally, he was not at all amused by the incident and took to the micro-blogging site to express himself.
In a series of tweets, he thrashed out at Emirates for their extremely unprofessional behaviour. He also informed his followers that one of the employees of the airline was also being rude to them unnecessarily. “Absolutely unprofessional from @emirates. Was on my way 2 SA with my fam & was told tht my wife and kids can’t board the flight from Dubai to SA. Was asked to produce birth certificates & other documents fr my kids at the airport which we obviously didn’t have at that moment. They are now at Dubai airport waiting for the documents to arrive. Why didn’t @emirates notify about such a situation when we were boarding the plane from Mumbai? One of the emirates’ employee was being rude for no reason at all,” he tweeted.

Will India break the jinx in South Africa?
Men in Blue will play 3 Tests, 6 ODIs and three T20 Internationals against Proteas during their 50-day long tour. They would love to keep their record of being unbeaten in last 16 bilateral series across format. Though they are yet to win a series in South Africa and the travelling squad is tipped to be the best ever Indian team. It would be interesting to see the way they will adapt to the alien conditions and face the pace bowling quartet to South Africa.
