Cricket is next to a religion in India, and no man knows this better than Sachin Tendulkar. However, the hero-worshiping hasn’t stopped since Sachin called it quits from international cricket. Fans still die to get a glimpse of players at stadiums, hotels, team buses and what not.
Indian left-handed opener Shikhar Dhawan thus thought it fit to fulfill his fans’ wishes by posting a snap of the team’s dressing room. Dhawan took to Instagram to share his photo, with a caption that read, “View of our dressing room!!”
India take on arch-rivals Pakistan in a much-anticipated encounter at Edgbaston. The two teams last met each other in the World T20 in 2016. Due to political tensions, India have suspended all bilateral cricketing ties with their neighbours.
India and Pakistan meet after a year
As a result, the Champions Trophy encounter between the two Asian heavyweights will attract crowds from all over England. Millions will tune in to watch the game on their television sets. As for the players, it will indeed be a crackerjack of a game on the cricket field.
Shikhar Dhawan had himself revealed that he’d been waiting for the game with bated breath. He posted another picture of one of his warm-up games to remind his fans that the Indo-Pak game was just round the corner.
Dhawan was framed watching the ball with wide open eyes while attempting to execute a pull shot. His caption read, “Eyes all set on d ball…cant wait for d big match on 4th..”

It is indeed unfortunate that India-Pakistan matches are now restricted to multilateral tournaments such as the Champions Trophy. However, the BCCI made it abundantly clear that India will not play a bilateral series with Pakistan unless the Indian Government gives clearance.
Pakistan, however, have the edge over India when it comes to the Champions Trophy. Out of the 3 encounters held, Pakistan have won 2, while India defeated Pakistan in the 2013 edition of the tournament. Shahid Afridi spoke on the upcoming clash saying, “The Champions Trophy is the only ICC event where Pakistan have had successes against India. We won the 2004 match at Edgbaston and then the 2009 match at Centurion. I hope the Men in Green deliver a rousing performance at Edgbaston to improve their record against India in global events.”
