The fact that India’s talismanic wicket-keeper batsman, MS Dhoni, is a man of many layers has been established long back. For years now, we have seen the determined look on his face while he takes his guard on the field, with the gloves or with the bat.
MSD has made a primary reputation for himself of being cool as a cucumber even after being subjected to pressure-cooker situations. But only the people in close proximity are aware of the fact that the master of finishing games has many dimensions to his character and one of them is his witty humour.
According to star opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan, MSD uses a popular one-liner from the hit blockbuster “Hera-Pheri” whenever he takes a moment out after a sneeze.
The Priyadarshan directed movie starring the like of Suniel Shetty, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal developed a cult following as many fans have related to the situation and lines from the movie. One of the most famous acts ever produced veteran Paresh Rawal is the line “Utha le re Baba”.
Shikhar Dhawan, according to an interview with NDTV, claimed that MS Dhoni has in fact inculcated those lines from Hera Pheri in his daily life, whenever he sneezes. “When he [Dhoni] sneezes, he says ‘Bhagwan mujhe nahin isko uthaale’ [God take him with you, not me],” revealed Shikhar Dhawan.
The two dynamic Indian players were part of India’s historic win in the Champions Trophy 2013, a tournament which Dhawan made his own. He also went on to win the golden bat during the tournament as he scored the highest number of runs in the series.
Shikhar announced himself in the International Arena under the captaincy of Dhoni against Australia in Mohali, back in 2013, with his blistering knock of 187. He has now bloomed with constituency under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. Shikhar Dhawan recently made a comeback after a lay off as he had to attend an ailing mother and wife back home.
