Shikhar Dhawan has continued his love affair with the Champions Trophy. He was the top-scorer in the last edition in England in 2013. Dhawan has started this tournament on a bright note as well, but the opener isn’t quite satisfied. The Delhi-lad scored a century against Sri Lanka in the second group game but was clearly unhappy because Sri Lanka chased the total with 7 wickets in hand

Dhawan’s Instagram post

After the loss against Sri Lanka, the last group match against South Africa has become a virtual Quarterfinal with the winner going through to semi-finals. Dhawan took to Instagram to thank fans for the support throughout. He also took that post as an opportunity to promise the fans that Indian team were quite pumped for the Do or Die clash

His post read: “Thank you for your kind wishes. Not the ideal result yesterday but we are pumped for our next game. Looking forward to your continuing support.?????.”

Must-win clash vs South Africa

Sri Lanka pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the Champions Trophy 2017 by beating India in the second group game by chasing a seemingly imposing target of 322 with a relative ease with 7 wickets hand. Earlier Pakistan also pulled off an upset vs South Africa.

These two upsets have made last round of Group B fixtures quite exciting. The last two games (India vs South Africa and Sri Lanka vs Pakistan) are like ‘virtual’ quarterfinals now, as they would decide the two semi-finalists from the group.

India, who are the defending champions must be on the top of the game if they want to beat South Africa who are world No.1 in ICC ODI Rankings. According to prediction, India and South Africa were favorites to go through to the semi-finals but now one would have to go back home from group stage itself. It will be one intriguing battle to see who comes out on top in the clash of heavyweights.
