Tennis star Sania Mirza and Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik have been blessed with a baby boy, the excited father confirmed on Tuesday morning. The couple had got married in 2010, and in April this year, Shoaib and Sania announced on social media that they are expecting their first child. The veteran Pakistan batsman took to his Instagram page to announce the good news with an adorable post.
Shoaib and Sania welcomed Baby Mirza Malik on October 30, 2018, and couldn’t be happier. The proud father made the announcement on Instagram this morning and wrote, “Excited to announce: Its a boy, and my girl is doing great and keeping strong as usual #Alhumdulilah. Thank you for the wishes and Duas, we are humbled #BabyMirzaMalik”. Meanwhile, Malik’s agent also confirmed the news and tweeted, “Baby and mother are all smiles, the dad is over the moon.”
Here is Malik’s post
The Indian tennis star had earlier spoken out about pregnancy and motherhood on social media. She had shared an important message as a mother-to-be during a recent interview, saying, “I think as an expectant mother the most important message that I want to give not just to my child but to every child is that you have to follow your dreams whatever they are even if they are out of the box or out of the ordinary, you have to believe in yourself.”
Mirza, who took a break to have her baby, is aiming to be back on the court for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The 32-year-old Indian tennis superstar and 6-time Grand Slam champion shared numerous photographs on social media in the last few months where she and her family members were seen attending events related to the baby.
She had also mentioned that the gender of the child does not matter to her and that she only prays for her baby to be healthy. “And obviously if it is only my child, I would hope, pray and wish for it to be a healthy child. It doesn’t matter if it is a boy or a girl, which seems to be very important for a lot of people. Besides that, to believe in yourself and always know that you have the freedom to be whoever you are. At this point, with regard to my baby, all I truly hope, pray and wish is, for it to be healthy, regardless of the gender,” she added.
Malik had recently taken part in the second and third T20Is against Australia in the UAE. Pakistan completed an emphatic 3-0 whitewash over Aaron Finch’s side on Sunday.
