India’s legendary middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh celebrated his 37th birthday on 12th of December. The stylish left-handed fought his way through the deadly battle of cancer and made a remarkable comeback to the Indian team. One of the most loved-cricketers in the globe is getting wishes from all parts of the cricketing world and a special player from the rival team also marked his presence.
Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik expressed his heartfelt wishes to Yuvraj Singh on the occasion of the latter’s birthday. The former Pakistan skipper posted the wishes on his official Twitter handle which in turn brought smiles in the faces of cricket fans from either side of the border.
Malik and Yuvraj always had a wonderful rapport with each other off-the cricket field while being fierce competitors on it. Both players have been champions in their own right and the mutual respect and camaraderie they share irrespective of the tension in the atmosphere is truly commendable.
The 36-year old, in his tweet on Wednesday, said, “Salgira Mubarak dost” meaning “Birthday wishes friend”. In his words, “Salgira Mubarak dost. Stay blessed, healthy and always happy InshAllah@YUVSTRONG12”. His followers, a number of them from Pakistan, also extended their warm fishes to India’s former No.4.

Blast from the past
While Malik’s tweet to wish Yuvraj is being talked about on social media, another incident involving the two gentlemen went viral in the online space earlier this year. It was a picture of the two along with Indian skipper Virat Kohli having a laugh after the end of Champion’s Trophy final that featured Pakistan beating India to clinch the title.
When asked about the potentially hilarious moment, Malik said that they were discussing the funny mix-up between himself and his teammate Saeed Ajmal during an ODI against West Indies. It was when Chris Gayle hit the ball in the air and both Malik and Ajmal were getting closer to catch the ball. Both of them thought that the other person had a better chance and so they simultaneously bailed out to watch the ball land in between them.
