The fifth edition of Shpageeza Cricket League came to an end with the Rashid Khan led Band-e-Amir Dragons edging past the Mis Ainak Knights led by Mohammad Nabi in the finals by four runs. Though four editions were played before, this is the first edition of the tournament after Afghanistan acquired an official status to their domestic matches.

Here we look at all the stats and records created during the tournament.

5/19 – Zahir Khan’s figures of 5/19 for Mis Ainak Knights against Band-e-Amir Dragons in the 1st qualifier is the only 5-wicket haul recorded in this tournament. This is also the 2nd five-fer recorded in the Shpageeza Cricket League after Rahmat Shah (5/25) in 2016.

8 – Number of dismissals Ikram Faizi has effected in this tournament as a wicketkeeper; four more than the keepers with 2nd most number of dismissals. These are also the most number of dismissals by a keeper in a Shpageeza Cricket League season equalling Mohammad Shahzad’s eight dismissals from 2016.

8 – Najibullah Zadran’s eight catches in this tournament are the most for any player. These are also the most catches for any player in an edition of Shpageeza Cricket League going past Nasir Jamal’s seven this year and Usman Ghani’s seven catches last year.

15 – Wickets Mis Ainak Knights’ Zahir Khan picked in this edition of the tournament. These are the most for any player in this edition and the 2nd most by anyone in a Shpageeza Cricket League season. Rashid Khan picked up 16 wickets in the previous edition.

80 – Speen Ghar Tigers’ 80/10 against Band-e-Amir Dragons is the lowest total in this tournament. This is also the 2nd lowest total in the Shpageeza Cricket League after 73/10 by Mis Ainak Knights against Kabul Eagles in 2015.

100Cameron Delport’s 100 for Boost Defenders against Mis Ainak Knights is the only century recorded in this tournament. This is also the first ever century in Shpageeza Cricket League as 98* by Shabir Noori in 2016 was the previous highest individual score.

121 – Kabul Eagles pair Hashmatullah Shahidi and Asghar Stanikzai’s 121-run stand for the 3rd wicket against Boost Defenders is the highest partnership for any wicket in this tournament.

201/6 – Boost Defenders’ total of 201/6 against Mis Ainak Knights is the highest team total in this tournament. This total is also the only 200+ total in this SCL edition.

250 – Asghar Stanikzai’s 250 runs in this tournament are the most for any player. Only Mohammad Shahzad (349), Nawroz Mangal (269) and Javed Ahmadi (265) have scored more runs in a Shpageeza Cricket League edition. All the three batsmen scored in the last edition.
