He entered the U19 World Cup on the back of experience at the first-class level. He brought forth all his capabilities and mustered runs against some potent bowling attacks. His campaign started with a calm-headed knock against Australia and he followed it up with a swashbuckling knock against Zimbabwe. However, his most substantial knock came against Pakistan in the semi-final.
Against the arch-rivals, Gill staved off the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi and notched a stupendous century to guide India to the final against Australia. He also played a decent cameo against the Kangaroos before perishing to Param Uppal’s off breaks. After his dream run in the tournament, Gill would dearly wish to graduate to the next level and break into the senior team with the passage of time.
