Sikandar Raza expresses his wish to play series in Pakistan
He further added that the win was important because this win proved to the world that Zimbabwe can be competitive.
Zimbabwe cricket has been in a downfall since their ‘golden generation’ retired. They had made it to the super six stage in back to back World Cups from 1999. At present they are struggling to even qualify for the World Cup directly. Their recent series victory over the Lankans in Sri Lanka has given a much-needed boost to Zimbabwe cricket. They need more exposure to improve and their all-rounder Sikandar Raza thinks similarly.
Wants to play a series in Pakistan
In 2015, Zimbabwe became the first International team to tour Pakistan after terrorists had attacked team bus of Sri Lankan team in 2009. Zimbabwe had failed to clinch any of the two series they played against Pakistan in 2015, but Raza is eager to play against Pakistan at their home again.
“It was a great experience playing that series in 2015 against Pakistan and I would love to play another series in Pakistan in the future. We get love and affection from cricket lovers wherever we play in the world and Pakistan is no different in that regard,” PakPassion.net quoted Raza.
31-year-old Pakistan born all-rounder has performed well with both bat and ball for Zimbabwe vs Sri Lanka. This was Zimbabwe’s maiden series win vs the Island nation.
The celebrations
Raza said that he was delighted after the series win vs Sri Lanka. He admitted that the victory hasn’t sunk in yet and they are still in party mood.
“We are absolutely delighted with the way things have gone. If you ask different people, they will tell you different reasons for playing cricket, but cricket for us, it is all about creating history, and to do so in Sri Lanka in the way we did is beyond what words can describe. It hasn`t fully sunk in yet and it`s hard to believe.” Raza said
He further added that the win was important because this win proved to the world that Zimbabwe can be competitive.
