Sikandar Raza has had a terrible outing with the bat in the recently concluded Zimbabwe v India ODI series. The series ended in a disaster for Raza as well as the home side as they had no answer to the young guns of India. However, in the upcoming T20I series, Raza hopes that they can draw inspiration from their 2015 home series against New Zealand.
In 2015, the Zimbabweans were heading towards a similar series defeat against New Zealand. However, after taking over the captaincy, Sikandar Raza led the Zimbabweans to redemption in the final ODI of the series. He now hopes that they can accomplish the similar feat against the Indians.
“First thing is, what’s done is done. We’re going to be full of energies, try to do the right things, try and execute our plans better and be a lot clearer,” Raza said in a press conference on Friday (June 17). “In a way now that ODIs are done and we take a lot of confidence into the T20s. We’re a lot better and a lot dangerous T20 side and we have discussed that we have beaten them last year, so it’s not impossible. It is possible to beat the world champions [sic] and once you do that, you’ll win a lot of people back.”
“I can certainly say that the energy will be much better tomorrow as we have a better captain (than me). He is more mature and has clearer thinking. Hopefully, we’ll even have a better performance tomorrow.”

“We will charge behind our skipper and give it a good show because what is happening and what has happened in the three ODIs, we’re all equally to blame and for us to win the hearts of the nation and the worldwide fans that are out there, I think it has to start from tomorrow,” a fired up Raza said.
