Sikander Bakht imposes match-fixing allegations on Dean Jones

Former Pakistan fast bowler Sikander Bakht started a new controversy over the selection of coaches for the PSL when he claimed on a news channel that former Australian batsman Dean Jones was suspected of match-fixing. Sikander said that Jones, who has been appointed head coach of the Islamabad team, was dropped from the Australian team and forced to retire because the Cricket Australia suspected him of being involved in match-fixing.

Sikandar Bakht said that Dean Jones was a controversial player in his time. Australian cricket board expelled Jones from the team before time because of a bad reputation. He also criticized the inclusion of Mohammad Amir in the opening edition of PSL. Earlier, the 54-year-old posted a video on his official Facebook account to let his followers know about his PSL signing.

Jones’ signing for Islamabad United came hours after Peshawar became the first PSL franchise to launch its logo and team name. “I’ve just signed as the head coach for the Islamabad United team and I look forward to seeing the draft and picking some fantastic players for our team,” Jones, said in a video message.

The inaugural edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be played in the United Arab Emirates; Pakistan cricket team’s adopted home since March 2009, from February 4 to February 24, 2016. The league will be played between five franchises or say provincial and the national capital of Pakistan: Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar. The tournament is all set to be the biggest event in the history of Pakistan cricket. The exposure that domestic cricketers get in Pakistan is lower in comparison to the nations that have their own leagues.
