Skipper Ishan Kishan helps Board President XI rout England Lions in warm-up fixture
Apart from Ishan Kishan, who scored a fifty, batter Ricky Bhui also scored a well-tuned 51.
The luckless run of the England Lions team continued on their ongoing tour of India. After having lost the unofficial ODI series by an embarrassing margin of 1-4 against India A, the Lions have suffered a defeat in the longer format of the game as well. Prior to the two-match unofficial Test series, England Lions squared off against Ishan Kishan led Board President XI in Trivandrum recently.
It was a two-day fixture, and the Indian side managed to rout the tourists easily in the match. The warm-up fixture, played at the KCA – St. Xavier’s College Ground, saw BP XI register a resounding 152 run win int he match. On the final day of the match, Ishan Kishan led from the front to score a fine unbeaten 55 to set the Lions a target of 235.
Ishan’s knock was studded with four sixes and five fours, and came off only 55 balls. The visitors had about 30 overs to go about their business, and with the young blood in the side, they certainly backed themselves to chase this down. However, much against their expectations, they could only crawl to 82 for 2 by the end of the play, and thereby conceding a total deficit of 152 runs to the Indian side in the match.
Earlier in the game, the BP XI had scored 134/5 in their first innings. In response ton this, the English side posted 145/6, with Sam Billings top scoring with an unbeaten 36. Both sides had their respective 90 overs to play (across the two innings – 60 and 30 overs). In the second innings, the BP XI mustered 246/6 in 60 overs.
Apart from Ishan Kishan, who scored a fifty, batter Ricky Bhui also scored a well-tuned 51. Akshath Reddy also had an impressive time wih the bat, and he scored a decent 49, en route his 81 run stand with Bhui. He was unfortunate to have missed out on his fifty by a run.
