Bangladesh Test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim has expressed his relief over left hander Mominul Haque’s return to the squad for the Australia series. Bangladesh will play Australia in the first Test of the two match series at Sher-e Bangla National cricket stadium, Mirpur from August 27.

Earlier, when BCB selectors had dropped the youngster from the squad, it had attracted criticism from media and former players. But fortunately for him, he has been called back as a replacement to the injured Mosaddek Hossain. The all-rounder’s eye problem has made way for the talented batsman.

Mushfiqur was at a charity event in a school when he said that it was a relief to have Mominul back in the squad. “Mominul’s return to the side is a relief for the Tigers,” said the wicketkeeper batsman. The skipper also distributed presents to the children and then all the students recited a poetry for the national hero.

Mushfiqur aims to win the Test series

The veteran has also said that the team is aiming no less than a win against Australia. He also hoped that the rain stays away from what should be an exciting contest. “If the weather stays well then it will be a very exciting Test series. We will go out there to win,” he said.

Bangladesh would be wary of the fact that the visitors will be playing the first Test without a warm up match as it had to be canceled due to rain. They have a chance to catch the Aussie batsmen off guard by preparing the rank turners for the series. A series win against a top side like Australia would surely boast well of Bangladesh and Test cricket.

Australia too are coming off a good show in the Test series against India where they humiliated the hosts in the Pune Test inside three days. Unfortunately, they could not win the series but they fought right till the end and the series was hailed as ‘one of the best’ by many.
