Words fail to describe the contribution made by Virat Kohli to Indian cricket. He has been at the helm for quite some time now and has taken India to great heights. Popularly known as the run-machine for piling tons of runs match after match, Kohli has redefined the way the game is played. He has set new standards for players and transformed the team environment in a positive way. One can see the hunger in Virat’s eyes every time he takes the field for his nation.
Virat has been playing for India in all three formats for quite some time now. Though he is one of the fittest cricketers in the world, he cannot be expected to play each and every game for India. The wheels start to come off at some point which is why he has to manage his workload effectively. Fatigue has taken over in the past and Kohli has had injury concerns due to excessive cricket. He suffered a neck injury in the IPL that ruled him out of the County Championship.
Virat hoping to recover on time
The injury was not a small one as it has put his participation in Ireland and England limited-overs series in jeopardy. The skipper provided an update on his injury and said that he has been working hard on his fitness and is doing his best to recover on time. He will undergo a fitness test on June 15 at the NCA which will determine his availability for the limited-overs series in the month of June and July. Virat shared a video on Twitter to update his fans.

The Indians will be banking on Kohli to do well in England. If he is ruled out, it may be a big blow to the side as he is the best batsman for India across all formats. The management will have to look at other options and a stand-in captain as well. It is very difficult to find a replacement for Kohli as there are very few players in the world who come close to what Kohli can do on the cricket field.
India plays Ireland in two T20Is on June 27 and 29 which will follow a limited-overs series against England, starting on July 3. A five-match Test series will be played between India and England in the month of August and September.
