SLC sends a warm invitation to Sachin Tendulkar for Nidahas Trophy 2018

On the huge memorable occasion of Sri Lanka’s 70th year of independence, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has invited both India and Bangladesh for a tri-nation T20I series as to be part of the celebrations. All the three teams would be fighting out hard to claim their hands on the prestigious Nidahas Trophy title, which is scheduled to start on March 6 and the final match would be played on March 18. The host Lankan team would be facing India in the opening encounter of the tri-series, later in the day.
SLC has also taken this historic moment to invite former Indian cricketer and batting legend Sachin Tendulkar to mark his presence in a few matches of Nidahas Trophy 2018.
Tendulkar was part of the winning Indian side, which won the Nidahas title 20 years ago, which was a 50-over competition than in 1998. The Master Blaster was adjudged the Player of the Match in the finale match and he helped his side win that game against the host Sri Lankan team by 6 runs. It was 50th Independence day celebrations for Sri Lanka and now the Nidahas Trophy is back in an innovated version which will be entertaining shortest format of the game.
SLC comes with an invitation for Sachin
The SLC President Thilanga Sumathipala revealed some more details on the invitation sent to Sachin to be part of the big occasion. He also noted that the former Indian cricketer has sent a special greeting message wishing the neighbouring nation on its 70th year of independence.
Even though after retiring from the game, the legendary batsman is still a very busy and charming personality, who has a hectic regular schedule. Thus, Sachin is yet to confirm the invitation for the tri-series.
“We have made a special request to Sachin Tendulkar to arrive and witness the few matches. He has a very busy schedule ahead and therefore he is yet to confirm the invitation. Sachin has sent a special greeting and message on the occasion of Sri Lanka’s 70-year of independence and SLC celebrating the 70 years of cricket in this nation. We’ll ever cherish Sachin’s message,” said the SLC President as quoted by Cricket Country.
