As the entire country celebrated Diwali on Saturday (November 14), the cricketing fraternity made sure to wish the fans on the auspicious occasion. Present and former cricketers took to their social media accounts to wish the fans. The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar and other eminent names from the game led the wishes.
India and Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Shivam Dube also wished the fans. Along with wishing the fans, he also posted pictures of himself bursting crackers. Fans react to Shivam Dube’s tweet on Diwali:
Shivam Dube’s tweet did surprise many of the fans as they sarcastically praised him for not obeying his captain’s advice. Earlier on the same day, Virat Kohli, in his Diwali message, had urged everyone not to burst crackers in order to protect the environment and celebrate the auspicious festival with a “simple diya and sweets”. The India batting mainstay had posted a small clip to wish the fans.
“A very happy Diwali from me to you and your families. May god bless you with peace, prosperity and happiness this Diwali. Please remember do not burst crackers to protect the environment and have fun at home with your loved ones with a simple diya and sweets on this auspicious occasion,” Kohli said in the video.
Kohli has been slammed by the fans on social media for telling others how to celebrate festival. And when Dube posted pictures of himself bursting crackers, the fans could not help but react hilariously to it. They joked that Dube posting pictures of bursting crackers could lead to his exclusion from the RCB squad. Dube and Kohli recently shared the dressing room for IPL 2020. Some also lauded him for celebrating the festival in its traditional manner.
