S Sreesanth, days after making his comeback to competitive cricket, has come under fire. The speedster made his comeback for Kerala in the ongoing edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy. He got a wicket in the very first match he played against Puducherry, but then, he was taken to the cleaners in the game against Mumbai at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Though Kerala won the match by eight wickets with 25 balls to spare, Sreesanth had an off day. In his four overs, the 37-year-old went for 47 runs at an economy rate of 11.75. In the meantime, he found himself under the scanner. He, seemingly, tried to sledge Yashasvi Jaiswal in his third over. But it backfired to some extent as Jaiswal hit him for two sixes off consecutive balls.

S Sreesanth criticised yet again

Thereafter, Sreesanth again became a recipient of severe backlash on social media platforms. One of the supporters reckoned that sledging doesn’t make a ‘world-class fast bowler’.

“Someone tell @sreesanth36 a long run-up & sledging doesn’t make anyone a world-class fast bowler. But getting hammered after you sledge makes it clear you’re more bluster than a bowler,” the fan wrote on Twitter.

In the meantime, instead of getting carried away, Sreesanth came up with a heartfelt reply. Apart from appreciating the fan for telling his mistake, the pacer also lauded Jaiswal, who scored 40 runs off 32 balls with four fours and two sixes.

“Thnks a lot for the information… really appreciate, u took time out to write this. I always give the very best to every delivery, and that was some great pick-up shots nd he is a very good nd he is gonna keep getting better, proud of the way he plays nd may god bless him nd family,” Sreesanth’s reply read.

The fan replied to Sreesanth and wrote. “I just got a lesson from @sreesanth36 on how to deal with criticism on social media. He didn’t block me or deflect. Instead, he earned my respect.” As far as the game is concerned, Kerala chased down 198 on the back of Mohammed Azharuddeen’s 54-ball 137.
