The ongoing Test series between South Africa and Australia has been an intensified one thus far. The banters started when Quinton de Kock hurled lewd comments at David Warner for Candice Warner, David’s spouse during the opening Test at the Kingsmead, Durban. Thereafter, the Australian opener barged into the Proteas wicketkeeper-batsman inside the dressing room. Thereafter, Nathan Lyon dropped the ball on AB de Villiers following the latter’s run-out, which added fuel to fire.
During the second Test, Kagiso Rabada ran into Warner in his follow-through for which he had to pay a price. Even the third Test has been a witness to a controversy. Following Warner’s dismissal at the hands of Kagiso Rabada, a fan who was believed to be from the members stand hurled stern words at David Warner to which the Aussie turned back. However, Darren Lehmann, the head coach of Australia, expressed his dejection on the incident in Friday’s post-match conference.
“I think it’s been disgraceful. You’re talking about abuse of various players and their families and personal abuse, it’s not on at a cricket ground anywhere around the world, not just here, it shouldn’t happen. You can have the banter, that’s fine, banter is good-natured, fun by crowds. But they’ve gone too far here. We’ve written to Cricket South Africa, Cricket Australia have done that, we’ll see their response, but it’s been poor. We’ll see what happens, hopefully, something.”
However, former South African cricketers Graeme Smith and Mark Boucher criticized Lehmann’s comments. Cricket Australia uploaded the video on their Twitter handle and the post-match conference by Lehmann to which Boucher reverted with a stern reply.
Here’s Boucher’s reply
Correct Darren! Fully agree! But… start cleaning up in your own country first! The personal, racial abuse I’ve witnessed in Aus was ridiculous. U guys don’t live in a glass house! Why the fuss all of a sudden? Seems fine when the shoe is on the other foot!

Graeme Smith, the former South African skipper, also supported the former Proteas wicket-keeper’s comments. He also took to Twitter and shared a message, replying to Boucher’s comments.
Here’s Smith’s reply
Absolutely right, and I don’t condone any of it….
But Blimey i have never seen an Aussie team whinge and whine like this! https://t.co/ECi5y1BA91— Graeme Smith (@GraemeSmith49) March 24, 2018
