Indian women’s team opener, Smriti Mandhana looked crestfallen after getting dismissed cheaply in their World Cup fixture against the Aussies.

Mandhana who had a dazzling start to the tournament seemed to have lost her magic touch as far as the last few matches are concerned. After getting off to a flyer against England, scoring 90 runs, Mandhana followed it up with a swashbuckling century in the second against the Caribbean.

Since then, the left-handed batsman’s form has hit a massive low as she failed to get out of the single digits in the next four matches. Stepping onto the field to start the Indian inning with Punam Raut, against the Aussies, Mandhana lost her wicket scoring just 3 runs off 10 balls.

The 20-year-old looked absolutely disheartened as she was spotted in the dressing room with a frowned face. She also had tears in her eyes, which was not a pleasant sight for any Indian fan.

The main story:

A parody account of TV journalist Mayanti Langer, who currently works with Star as a journalist, made some effort to console the promising talent. In the tweet, the fake account posted a video where Smriti Mandhana looked absolutely in blue.

The tweet read “Heartbroken. Can’t watch Tears in her eyes. It’s just a game. We all want you to smile @mandhana_smriti”. The writing was paired with the video of the opener sitting with tears in her eyes in the dressing room.

The Indians lost the match to Australia despite a valiant batting effort from Punam Raut, whose gorgeous century was an inning to remember. The Australians chased down the total set by the Indians comprehensively, with the loss of just 2 wickets. The Indians now find themselves in the 4th spot in the points table with England, Australia and South Africa above them. Mithali Raj and her women have collected 8 points from the 6 matches they have played in the tournament. Watch the video here:
