'So long since saw the ball fly so high' - Shah Rukh Khan lavishes praises on Andre Russell's destructive show against PBKS
Andre Russell slammed an unbeaten 70 off just 31 deliveries.
Andre Russell was at his destructive best against Punjab Kings as Kolkata Knight Riders recorded their second win in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The game was well in balance when the Caribbean dasher arrived in the middle. In the chase of 138, the two-time champions were restricted to 51/4 as there was hope in the Punjab Kings camp. However, Russell unleashed his rampage and took KKR home inside 15 overs.
With the help of two boundaries and eight gigantic sixes, the dasher slammed an unbeaten 70 off just 31 deliveries as KKR won by six wickets. Co-owner of KKR and Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan was mighty impressed with Russell’s blitzes as he heaped massive praises on the all-rounder. Taking to Twitter after the game, Shah Rukh lauded Russell’s big-hitting, saying he hasn’t seen the ball flying so high in a while.

He also praised pacer Umesh Yadav for his four-wicket haul. “Welcome back my friend @Russell12A so long since saw the ball fly so high!!! It takes a life of its own when U hit it Man!” tweeted the veteran actor.
Meanwhile, KKR have now won two of their three games and are atop the team standings with four points. Besides Russell, Umesh Yadav also shone in the game as the speedster made the new ball talk. He took a four-wicket haul and broke the backbone of PBKS’ batting line-up. The 34-year-old was also adjudged the Player of the Match for his remarkable spell.
With KKR putting up such a clinical show, skipper Shreyas Iyer was mighty pleased and he expressed the same after the match. “To be honest, it was great to see Russell hitting. It was Russell Muscle. Umesh told me that he was getting older, but I told him that he was getting fitter,” said Shreyas in the post-match presentation. Meanwhile, KKR will next meet Mumbai Indians on April 6 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
