Captain Rohit Sharma was elated after India’s triumph in the T20 World Cup 2024. After a massive heartbreak in the ODI World Cup, Rohit was desperate to get his hands on the coveted trophy. India were on the verge of defeat on the night of the finals against South Africa but the bowlers pulled things back miraculously in the last five overs which turned India into a party hub.

Thousands of fans gathered in Delhi and Mumbai to celebrate with the players. Marine Drive particularly saw people walk with the champions during the victory lap that concluded at the Wankhede Stadium. The fans in attendance at the stadium saw the players dance, sing ‘Maa Tujhe Salam’ and share their experience of winning the T20 World Cup

During the celebration, Rohit opened up on the historic win and stated that the 2024 win is more special to him as he led the team in the tournament. 20-year-old Rohit was part of India’s win in the 2007 T20 World Cup, which was also his maiden title in international cricket but the opener kept 2024 win ahead and stated that the victory in Barbados means a lot to him and was happy to share the happiness with the fans of Indian cricket.

“2007 was a different feeling, we started off in the afternoon and this is in the evening. I cannot forget 2007 as it was my first World Cup. This is little more special because I was leading the team so it’s a very proud moment for me. This is going to be mad. You can make out the excitement and it shows how much it means not just to us but also to the entire nation. It means a lot. So, I am very happy that we could achieve something like this for them as well,” said Rohit in a video released by BCCI.
