A very special day for a very special guy' - Team India's special message for Cheteshwar Pujara on his 100th Test

The second Test between India and Australia, which begins on Friday, February 17, will be a special one for India’s finest Test player Cheteshwar Pujara, as he will be playing his 100^th Test for the country.

It is a landmark achievement for the Test specialist as he became just the 13^th player from India to make it to the 100 Tests club. Pujara has been at his best in Tests. The seasoned batter has scored 7021 runs in 99 Test matches, including 19 hundreds and 34 half-centuries with his best Test score being 206*.

The BCCI shared a video of the members of the Indian squad sharing their good wishes for the 35-year-old ahead of the Delhi Test. The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, former skipper Virat Kohli, the head coach Rahul Dravid and many others congratulated the seasoned player on achieving the milestone.

“Firstly, I would like to congratulate Pujara for making it to the 100^th Test match for the country. It’s a big achievement, not many people go on to achieve what you have done for your country,” Rohit said in the video.

“Pujji, the first time that I saw you or played against you was in a Ranji Trophy match where you scored runs and you beat Karnataka. That has become a recurring theme I think. But it has just been a pleasure to watch you evolve over the last 10 years,” said Dravid.

“This is a very special day for a very special guy. Pujji, congratulations on your 100^th Test. It’s a big occasion not just for you but for your family, for the people who have supported you throughout your journey and it’s a big achievement to play for India for so long, that’s why you’ve made it to 100 Tests,” said Kohli.

In the video, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav indulged in a funny conversation as they highlighted that Pujara was set to play his 100^th Test. Here’s how their conversation went:

Suryakumar: Ishan, do you know why are we standing in front of the camera?

Ishan: It’s Pujji bhai’s 100^th Test match.

Suryakumar: Say it again?

Ishan: It’s Pujji bhai’s 100^th Test match!

Jaydev Unadkat and Axar Patel too were seen indulging in a hilarious conversation, speaking about Pujara’s skills while playing the Play Station as they joked about the veteran not being able to score much on the console as he does with the bat in the Tests.
