With the ODI World Cup 2023 looming around the corner, the fans will be waiting to witness the best teams in world cricket go up against one another in a bid to get their hands on the coveted World Cup trophy.

With the tournament all set to begin on October 5, former South African cricketer AB de Villiers came forward to name his four semi-finalists for the tournament. The legendary batter named India, Australia, England, and South Africa as the four teams that will reach the semi-final stage of the tournament.

England will be coming into the tournament as defending champions and they will be taking on New Zealand in the season opener on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In brilliant news for the side, it was also recently announced that all-rounder Ben Stokes will be coming out of retirement to compete for England in the World Cup.

India will take on arch rivals Pakistan on October 14

Speaking of the upcoming ODI World Cup, Team India will begin their campaign against Australia on October 8, in Chennai. They will be travelling to Ahmedabad to take on Pakistan in the much-anticipated encounter on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Led by Rohit Sharma, team India will be keen on putting up excellent performances in the World Cup, as being the hosts would put added pressure on the side. Furthermore, the team will also be keen on breaking their dreaded ICC curse.

India last won an ICC title back in 2013 when former skipper MS Dhoni led them to the CHampions Trophy title, defeating England in their home. However, ever since then, any major ICC title has eluded the Indian team, and as the World Cup approaches, it could be interesting to see how the side fares in the marquee event.
