Afghanistan's wins are not upsets anymore, says Sachin Tendulkar; Ibrahim Zadran responds

Afghanistan’s impeccable growth in international cricket has grabbed worldwide attention. Former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has congratulated the team following their historic victory over England in the Champions Trophy 2025. Tendulkar took to social media to appreaciate Afghanistan’s constant growth, stating that their triumphs can no longer be stated as "upsets".
"Afghanistan’s steady and consistent rise in international cricket has been inspiring! You can’t term their wins as upsets anymore, they’ve made this a habit now. A superb century by @IZadran18 and wonderful five-for by @AzmatOmarzay, sealed another memorable win for Afghanistan. Well played!" Tendulkar posted after the game.
Afghanistan kept the cricketing world yet again on toes with an exceptional eight-run triumph over England in a must-win clash, with the win coming on the back of an outstanding 177-run knock from opener Ibrahim Zadran and a noteworthy five-wicket haul by Azmatullah Omarzai.
Tendulkar’s acknowlegment towards the game resonated hugely with Ibrahim Zadran, who responded to the post with gratitude and warmth . "What an honour it is to be praised by the very man who inspired generations to pick up the bat @sachin_rt. Your words mean a lot to me and to cricket in Afghanistan. Thank you, sir", he wrote.
Afghanistan will play their last league game against Australia in Lahore on February 28 and will proceed to the semi-final if they manage to secure a victory. England, on the other hand, have been knocked out of the tournament. They will play their final fixture against Siuth Africa in Karachi on March 1.
