Cricket Australia (CA) took the opportunity to take a dig at Team India following their disappointing performance in the first innings of the first Test against New Zealand.

The hosts faced a batting collapse at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru as they bundled out for just 46 runs, making it their lowest total in a home Test and their third-lowest in Test history.

The collapse brought out the same memories of India's infamous 36 all-out against Australia in Adelaide during the 2020-21 Border Gavaskar Trophy series. Cricket Australia wasted no time in drawing comparisons between the two batting debacles.

They took to social media, posting highlights of India's 36 all-out in Adelaide and tweeted, "Is 'All Out 46' the new 'All Out 36'?"

Indian innings lasted just 31.2 overs

The opening Test saw Rohit Sharma-led side opt to bat first under overcast skies on a damp pitch that had been under covers for a few days due to rain. This decision proved costly as the Kiwi pacers, led by William O'Rourke and Matt Henry, exploited the conditions brilliantly. The Indian innings lasted just 31.2 overs, with five batters dismissed for ducks.

Cricket Australia's jab comes just weeks before the Border Gavaskar Trophy in November. Following the 36 all out in Adelaide, India made a remarkable comeback to win the 2020-21 series 2-1.
