'All yours now' - David Warner passes baton over to Jake Fraser McGurk, spends time with him after Australia's T20 World Cup exit

Jake Fraser McGurk has been phenomenal with his batting for the Australian team. The young batter is deemed as the next potential opener of the Australian team. The former Australia opener, David Warner, has been the inspirational figure for the hard-hitting batter.

Notably, both cricketers shared the dressing room for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League 2024. After Warner was done with the national duties as Australia bowed out of the T20 World Cup 2024, they were seen cherishing their time away from the field. The 22-year-old was inducted into the Australian side for the marquee event and was included as the travelling reserve.

Though he did not get to play a single game, he was exposed to the environment where the team challenged the trophy. David Warner took to his Instagram to share a picture with McGurk as both cherished a drink after the culmination of their Caribbean stay.

McGurk asks a lot of questions and he loves the game: Warner

Warner was vocal about the potential Jake Fraser McGurk exudes as he vouched for his potential placement on the Australian side. Australia will be touring England after the unfortunate exit from the global event and the southpaw showed confidence in McGurk making the cut. McGurk, in particular, was exceptional for Delhi Capitals and the batter was termed as the ultimate striker of the tournament with his strike rate surpassing the 200 mark.

"The experience for him will be great and being around the guys and the group where potentially I feel like he'll probably go on that England tour in late August. As a young kid, he understands what the game's about, what it's like to be around the group as a team player. He asks a lot of questions and he loves the game, which is great," Warner had said as quoted by TOI.
