English bowler Kate Cross was the talk of the town after the conclusion of the WPL (Women’s Premier League) 2024 auction. The 32-year-old joined Royal Challengers Bangalore women ahead of the second edition of the WPL for INR 30 lakh.

A fan of Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, Cross once trolled RCB men's team during the IPL 2020 season. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Cross shared a picture of CSK skipper MS Dhoni saying "Definitely Not" in response to her compatriot Alexandra Hartley's tweet, in which she asked if "Will we (RCB) ever win a title?".

However, after her joining up with RCB women ahead of the WPL 2024, Hartley took to X to welcome Cross to the franchise.

“CROSSY TO RCB!!!!! Welcome home, @katecross16 @RCBTweets,” Hartley posted.

In response, Cross opined that she always had a soft spot for RCB. “Always had a soft spot for RCB, AI,” Cross responded.

RCB women aim to improve in WPL 2024

With the auction for the second edition of the WPL (Women’s Premier League) finished, the side brought in the likes of Georgia Wareham, Kate Cross, Ekta Bisht, Shubha Satheesh, S Meghana, Simran Bahadur, and Sophie Molineux.

It is worth noting that RCB had a season to forget in 2023 as playing eight games in the tournament, the Smriti Mandhana-led side only managed to win two and lost the remaining six, bundling out of the group stages of the marquee competition.

However, with the addition of some significant star power ahead of the WPL 2024, a lot more would be expected from Bangalore in the second edition of the tournament. With the starpower of Ellyse Perry, Smriti Mandhana, Heather Knight and many more, Bangalore’s campaign in the WPL 2024 would be one to keep an eye on for many fans.
