Aoife Fisher recalls incident about her dog interrupting cricket match, says people still call her girl with famous dog
Ireland U-19 cricketer Aoife Fisher recalled a hilarious moment when her dog once interrupted an official cricket match.
The Ireland U-19 cricketer, Aoife Fisher, recalled a hilarious moment when her dog once interrupted an official cricket match. During the semi-finals of the women’s Clear Currency All Ireland T20 Cup in 2021, her dog, Dazzle, ran onto the field and played fetch the ball.
Through ICC's video, Fisher narrated that incident and also revealed how people gave her the title of a girl with a famous dog.
“I was batting. We were not doing well, we were 46 for 6. My brothers were watching the game, they just let her go. She came over to me and gave me the ball. She still fetches us the ball in the garden, and people still come up to me and say ohh you the girl with the famous dog, which is amazing,” Fisher said in a video posted by ICC.
Whole family of the Irish cricketer including her dad, mom, brothers, and solicitor were present at Bready Cricket Club in the County Tyrone village to witness this sweet moment.
Recalling the incident, Fisher elaborated, “I was batting and, out of the corner of my eye, I saw Dazzle lying down on the ground. But as the ball went near her, she sprinted onto the pitch and caught it — she was so fast! She did a couple of twirls and then I could see her looking for me so I went down onto my knees and called her."
“She ran towards me with the ball and she was so happy to have brought me a present," Fisher concluded.
