In the ongoing finals of the Asia Cup 2022 at the Dubai International Stadium, Bhanuka Rajapaksa got a big lifeline in the 19th over when Shadab Khan and Asif Ali collided with each other and messed up an easy catching chance. To make things worse, the ball went for a six while Shadab had to be taken off the field to get some treatments due to the hard collision between the fielders.

Mohammad Hasnain was the bowler in frame, and he clearly was disappointed with the effort from the fielders. It looked like an easy catch for Asif Ali but Shadab ran in, leading to the dropped chance as Rajapksa survived. Pakistan paid hugely for it in the final over, as Rajapaksa got hold of Naseem Shah for two boundaries in the final two deliveries to finish Sri Lanka's innings on a high.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka had a pretty poor start after batting first and were in a spot of bother at 58 for 5 in just the ninth over. However, the likes of Rajapaksa and Wanindu Hasaranga stitched an excellent partnership for the sixth wicket and helped the side to recover from a tricky situation.

Rajapaksa reached his half century in the process, while Hasaranga played an excellent hand with a 21 ball 36 which included five fours and six. Once, Hasaranga was dismissed, Rajapaksa took the onus on himself for finishing the innings and he provided a brutal finish alongside Chamika Karunaratne.
