India and Afghanistan locked horns in their respective final game of the Asia Cup 2022 on Thursday evening at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. It was a dead rubber between the two teams, but Indian batters showcased some prolific batting techniques, and one shot that grabbed the spotlight was Suryakumar Yadav’s maximum which hit the fridge at Afghanistan’s dugout.

The two teams have been knocked out of the tournament following their loss against Sri Lanka and Pakistan, but they are looking to end their stint on a high note and exit the tournament with a win. Winning the toss, Afghanistan put India to bat first. With Rohit Sharma resting, stand-in skipper KL Rahul and Virat Kohli opened the innings.

The duo shared a brilliant 119-run opening stand and played in an attacking mode from the word go. Their partnership came to an end Fareed Ahmad dismissed Rahul in the 13th over, which got Suryakumar Yadav into the game at No. 3. On the very first ball that he faced, Yadav hit a cracking six over the fine leg, which traveled till Afghanistan’s dugout and hit their fridge directly, thereby breaking the upper part of the plastic board.

Unfortunately, Suryakumar Yadav walked off the field on the very next delivery that he faced as Ahmad picked his second wicket of the over. After hitting a six off the delivery placed on the middle and leg stump, Ahmad went on to bowl the next one just outside off the stump. Yadav tried to go on the offside to attempt the shot, but the stumps had been rattled by the time he could realize it.

Virat Kohli's ton guides India to a massive total

Speaking of India’s innings, the Men in Blue were guided by Kohli and Rahul in the beginning, and then the former India skipper took charge of the game. Kohli smashed the ball all around the stadium, bagged his 71st international century, which was also his maiden T20I century, and as a result, India managed to finish scoring a massive 212/2 runs, the highest score by any team this year at the continental tournament.
