The fifth game of the Asia Cup 2022 between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh turned out to be a nail-biting thriller, and it came down to the last over leaving everyone guessing who the winner would be. Both teams put up a great fight, but a handful of errors by Bangladesh bowlers cost their side the game as Sri Lanka won the game by two wickets and entered the Super Four.

It was a rollercoaster ride for all those who watched the game, especially the Sri Lankan and Bangladeshi fans. The crowd was ecstatic during the final few overs and got all the chills and thrills. Wickets, no-balls, and boundaries- the death overs were filled with drama. But there was one little fan who was spotted crying after Bangladesh lost the game.

It was an emotional moment for the Bangladeshi fans at the stadium as they had seen their side losing by the barest of margins, and a young kid was spotted crying while his mother was seen consoling him. The young supporter was donning the Bangladesh jersey and was there to support his team, but he could not control his emotions in the end.

Sri Lanka's topsy-turvy ride to Super Four

Speaking of how the game panned out, Bangladesh partially dominated the first innings after being put to bat first. There were a couple of setbacks that they faced initially, but the middle-order batters anchored the innings brilliantly and helped them score a big total of 183/7. It surely was a defendable total, but even Bangladesh could not have thought about what was coming next.

The bowlers could not stop the Sri Lankan openers from scoring during the powerplay, but towards the end of the sixth over, they managed to pick two wickets to put brakes on Sri Lanka’s momentum. The upper middle order batters also walked back to the pavilion soon as they entered, and Bangladesh grabbed the upper hand.

It was Kusal Mendis who stitched the innings together for the Lankans. He was given multiple lives as he survived several dismissal scares. He was then joined by skipper Dasun Shanaka who played the captain’s knock and got the game to the final over. The pressure was on the lower-order batters when they had to chase just eight runs off the final over, which they brilliantly managed to and took Sri Lanka over the finish line.
