Kohli also spent some time with the players and clicked pictures in their dressing room following the game. Additionally, the former India skipper was seen giving his autograph to Nepal pacer Sompal Kami on his shoes which left the latter quite emotional.

It is worth mentioning that Sompal, who came in at no. 8, slammed two sixes and a solitary boundary in his 56-ball 48. Furthermore, Sheikh’s 58 off 97 helped Nepal post a modest 230 in the first innings. However, after persistent rain came down at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, match officials revised the target to 145 runs in 23 overs, with DLS coming into the picture.

Shubman Gill and skipper Rohit Sharma remained solid on the crease as the pair comfortably helped the Men in Blue cruise to the Super Four with a magnificent 10-wicket win. While Rohit scored 74 off 59 balls, cracking five sixes and six fours, Gill slammed 67 off 62 balls with eight fours and a solitary maximum.

Earlier, Pakistan became the first side in the Asia Cup to confirm their berth in the Super Four stage.  Meanwhile, arch-rivals team India and Pakistan will square off in the knockout rounds on Sunday, September 10, at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
