The Australian team might have secured a commanding position in the ongoing second Test match of the series against the Proteas, but injuries to several key players have become a headache for the hosts. Cameron Green became the latest causality after he was hit on his right forefinger by a vicious delivery from Anrich Nortje. The star-all-rounder left the field and looked in severe pain as the physios tried to stop the bleeding from his finger.

Australia's prodigious all-rounder Cameron Green registered his maiden five-wicket haul in Test cricket in the first innings but could not replicate the same performance with the bat during the Australian innings. He looked uncomfortable during his stay at the crease, which was eventually cut short by a well-directed vicious short delivery from the menacing Anrich Nortje.

Australia sweating on the fitness of several star players in the second Test

Green, who was batting at the crease along with Travis Head, was hit on the finger by Nortje in the 85th over. The tall all-rounder looked in some pain and took off his gloves, showcasing a bleeding forefinger. He eventually walked off the field after the physios tried to stop the bleeding from his finger. He was the second player to retire hurt for the Aussies, as David Warner had walked off earlier today after his record-breaking double ton.

The Australian team will be hoping that the injury to Green is not serious at all as they are already short on the bowling front after star pacer Mitchell Starc sustained a finger injury during fielding in the first innings. Meanwhile, Warner walked off the pitch after seemingly aggravating his cramps while celebrating his historic double ton in his 100th Test appearance. The southpaw was helped off the pitch after securing a commanding lead for the home side.
