Pakistan Cricket Board announced Mohammad Rizwan as the new white-ball captain ahead of the away tour against Australia. After Babar Azam resigned from the position, Rizwan was deemed the favourite, as he had done a commendable job as the captain of Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Meanwhile, leading to the Champions Trophy 2025, the series against Australia holds key for the team, especially after they failed to make a mark in white-ball cricket in recent times.

Rizwan is aware of the challenge but is optimistic of beating Australia on their home turf. He reminded that Pakistan have come closer to a series victory last time around but on this ocassion, he feels the team is ready to meet the expectations. He also noted that the players have made mistakes in their previous attempts and would look to rectify.
