The stump mic has been the source of some of the best quotes. This is where the fans and commentators witness the banter between the players on the field. This also gives us a glimpse of what goes into the game and how the players communicate with each other.

At present, entertaining banter is being seen in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy where the players have always exchanged words with each other on the field and certain conversations have been caught on the stump mic. One hilarious conversation between Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja occured on Day 4 of the Boxing Day Test. The India skipper instructed the spin-bowling all-rounder not to smile and it was then followed up by Rishabh Pant motivating him from behind the stumps.

“Aye Jaddu usko daant mat dikha jyada yaar (Hey Jadeja, don’t smile at him too much)," Rohit said to Jadeja.

Australia's lower order frustrates Indian bowlers

The Indians would have felt happy after dismissing the Australian top order quickly and having them struggling at 91-6. However, the 10th wicket partnership between Nathan Lyon and Scott Boland frustrated the Indian bowlers and they eventually finished the day on a total of 228-9 with the last wicket partnership putting on 55 runs with Lyon on 41 from 54 deliveries and Scott Boland on 10 from 65 deliveries at the crease.

This has taken Australia's lead to 333 runs at Stumps and they will be looking to add more runs to the total. On the other hand, the Indian team will want to get the last wicket as soon as possible and will have to have a great day with the bat which could make sure they can at least draw the match in the end. Incidentally, the highest total chased down at the MCG is 332 runs by England.
