Babar Azam loses mobile phone, confirms by posting via social media

Star Pakistani batter, Babar Azam, took to social media to announce to his supporters upon misplacing his phone as well as the contacts on it. He promised his well-wishers to connect with them the moment he retrieved his electronic device.

Babar did not explain the specifics surrounding the incident. The post's comments section was flooded with social media users offering him words of comfort.

Pakistan to play Tri-Nation Series ahead of Champions Trophy

Babar will next feature for Pakistan in the Tri-Nation Series, involving New Zealand and South Africa as well. The tri-series is scheduled to commence on Saturday, February 8. The series opener will be between the Kiwis and the hosts, slated to be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

The series will be followed up by the Champions Trophy, which will be co-hosted by Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. The ninth instalment of the marquee ODI tournament is set to kickstart on February 19. The previous edition of the tournament, which was conducted way back in 2017, was won by Pakistan after they defeated arch-rivals, India, in the final by a whopping 180-run margin.

For the upcoming tournament, they are placed in Group A with the likes of India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh. 2024 was a stellar year for Pakistan in the 50-over format. They won three back-to-back away series against Zimbabwe, Australia, and South Africa. As far as Babar's form in ODIs in the previous year is concerned, he registered a total of 228 runs in six innings, averaging 57. For Pakistan to have any hopes of defending their title, it would be imperative for Babar to step up to the task.
