Star Indian batter Virat Kohli made his return to India on Sunday, landing at the Mumbai airport. The 35-year-old had taken a brief break from national duties to be with his wife Anushka Sharma for the birth of their second child, a baby boy named Akaay, on February 15.

Kohli had departed India just days before the start of the five-match Test series against England in early February. He missed the first two Tests in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam on paternity leave before being officially ruled out of the remaining matches by the BCCI. His focus now shifts to the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.

As the RCB star emerged at the airport, one eager photographer couldn't resist asking “Kohli Sir, Aap Kaise Ho?” (How are you Kohli sir), to which the cricketer replied with a warm smile, “Badhiya, Aap Theek Ho?” (I'm doing fine, how are you?)

Representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise, Kohli is expected to join his IPL teammates soon for preparations ahead of their tournament opener against the Chennai Super Kings on March 22nd. The 35-year-old will be present at the annual 'Unbox' promotional event on March 19 at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Kohli's form has been heavily scrutinized, with reports suggesting that the New Delhi-born may not be part of India's T20 World Cup squad later this year.

A strong IPL campaign could make things clear. Notably, playing sixteen editions for the Bengaluru franchise, the league veteran has emerged as the highest run-scorer, with a mind-boggling 7,263 against his name in 229 innings. He has even scored a record seven centuries and fifty half-centuries so far.
