Badshah, Sonam Bajwa to perform at the inaugural Delhi Premier League 2024 grand opening ceremony

The upcoming inaugural edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL 2024) will kick off on Saturday, August 17. The tournament will be played at the renowned Arun Jaitley Stadium, in New Delhi.

Notably, the competition will see six teams clashing with one another but before that, a grand opening ceremony is expected to take place. Actress Sonam Bajwa and renowned rapper-singer Badshah are expected to set the stage ablaze to add glamour to the new T20 league in India. Bajwa who is popular among youth, informed her fans through a video on social media about her upcoming performance for the DPL 2024.

Now speaking of the tournament opener, Team Purani Dilli 6 will square off against South Delhi Superstarz. The match will begin at 8:30 pm (IST). The game will be a star-studded affair as India's ravishing wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant will take the field for Dilli 6 along with former international stars like Ishant Sharma.

Reports: Rishabh Pant to play in first match of inaugural Delhi Premier League T20

Several IPL stars will play in DPL 2024

Apart from them, some other IPL (Indian Premier League) stars will show their cricketing prowess in front of a spirited Delhi crowd. Among notable names, batter Ayush Badoni will lead the team from South Delhi. He will enjoy the services of players like Kuldip Yadav and Shubham Dubey. Notably, both the players have represented Rajasthan Royals in India's biggest cricket carnival aka the IPL. 

Besides, there will be matches for women as well. When it comes to the total number of fixtures to be played in the DPL 2024, Out of the 40 games to be played, women will get to feature in seven games while men will play 33 games. The final of the DPL 2024 will be played on September 8, 2024.
