The second day of the final Test match between India and Bangladesh saw the hosts make a spirited comeback in the game after a bright morning session that yielded three Indian wickets. However, they were on the cusp of another big scalp just before lunch after a mix-up between Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant nearly cost the former his wicket. The former Indian skipper gave a deadly stare to his batting partner after his narrow escape.
India started the day brightly, only to lose both openers Shubman Gill and KL Rahul to rather loose shots. The impregnable Cheteshwar Pujara also perished after a solid start to his innings. Bangladesh's Taijul Islam was the tormentor in chief, scalping all three wickets in the first session of the second day.

The visitors were nearly gifted the big wicket of Virat Kohli on the very last delivery before lunch when he was sent back from halfway down the pitch by Rishabh Pant. The southpaw had clipped the ball to mid-wicket and Kohli instantly went off for a single only to be sent back by his batting partner. The former Indian skipper threw in a dive to save his wicket and looked furious after that close escape. He gave an annoying stare to the young wicketkeeper-batter, who nearly cost him his wicket.
However, the home side did get their man in the second over after lunch after Nurul Hasan snaffled a regulation chance to dismiss Kohli. Bangladesh are in the ascendency after that big scalp and will look to get rid of the dangerous Rishabh Pant next to secure a decisive lead in the match. Meanwhile, India's hopes are pinned down on the batting pair of Pant and Shreyas Iyer, with the all-rounder pair of Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel still in the dressing room.
