Bangladesh were bowled out for 227 on Day 1.
After winning the first Test of the series in Chattogram, the Indian team made a bold decision and dropped Kuldeep Yadav from the second and final match of the series. Yadav, who picked up eight wickets in the first game and was adjudged the Player of the Match, was left out as the team management preferred an extra seamer and thus, Jaydev Unadkat was brought in.
The move worked brilliantly for the side as Unadkat, on his return to international cricket, picked up two wickets while Umesh Yadav with his express pace bagged four wickets. Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin picked up four crucial wickets too.
Courtesy of another phenomenal performance with the ball, the Indian team dismissed the Bangla Tigers for 227. Batting at number three, Mominul Haque played a sensible knock of 84 runs off 157 deliveries but no other cricketer stepped up to support him in the middle.
India finished day one on a high note as opener Shubman Gill (14 off 20) gave them a solid start in the second innings. Skipper KL Rahul looked shaky but evetually managed to stay not out at the end of the day. The team is currently trailing by 208 runs and would want to take a healthy lead and put Bangladesh under pressure on Day 2.
