Shubman Gill has spent a lot of time with his India captain Rohit Sharma. He was his opening partner for most of the time before Yashasvi Jaiswal took over the spot. It seems a lot of it has rubbed on Gill, as he has taken a leaflet out of Rohit’s book about forgetting things at key moments. While at the toss as Gujarat Titan took on Chennai Super Kings, Gill won the flip and straightaway opted to bat only to recollect and go with bowling first.

CSK are hosting GT in the 7th match of the Indian Premier League 2024. Both teams are coming off emphatic victories and GT will look to exact revenge for last year's finals loss against the CSK. When the two teams met last time in the final, CSK emerged victorious in the ultimate showdown that traversed for two days due to rain.

Here’s the video of Shubman Gill’s fumble at the toss:

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Gill come with captaincy experience

This season is an important one for both the young sensations of the Indian team. While Ruturaj Gaikwad held the reigns of CSK as MS Dhoni decided to step down from captaincy, Gill took over the GT’s coveted job profile as Hardik Pandya turned his head towards his former franchise, Mumbai Indians. The due have passed with flying colours in their very first assignment as skippers. CSK thwarted Royal Challengers Bengaluru at their home and GT won a nerve-jangler against MI.

It is worth noting that Gaikwad comes with captaincy experience as he has led the Indian team at the Asian Games 2023 held in Hangzhou. India emerged victorious in the T20 extravaganza and earned a Gold Medal as the final against Afghanistan was called off due to rain. On the other hand, Gill has led the Punjab team in the Ranji Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He has also been the skipper for India A in six List A matches.
