BCCI announces India’s squad for first two England Tests

After the conclusion of their ongoing T20I series against Afghanistan, the Indian team will be gearing up to take on England in a five-game Test series, which is slated to begin on January 25.

Ahead of the series, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) came forward to announce India’s squad for the first two Tests against England. It is worth noting that Rohit Sharma will lead the side, with Jasprit Bumrah acting as his deputy.

It is worth noting that the Indian team will be coming into the series after drawing the two-game Test series against South Africa. Losing the first Test, the Rohit Sharma-led side put in a magnificent performance and registered a historic win in Cape Town to level the series.

Team India will aim to seal the series against Afghanistan

Talking of India’s current assignments, the side is engaged in a three-game T20I series with Afghanistan. The side took on Afghanistan in the first T20I on January 11 and managed to register a dominant win. The clash began with Afghanistan batting first and posting a total of 158 runs on the board in the first innings after good knocks by Azmatullah Omarzai and Mohammad Nabi. 

Mukesh Kumar and Axar Patel were the highest wicket takers for India with two wickets each, Shivam Dube struck once as well. Aiming to chase down the target, India put in an exceptional performance with the bat and a brilliant 60*  run-knock by Shivam Dube helped the side win the game and gain the advantage in the series.

Rohit Sharma (C ), S Gill, Y Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, S Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), KS Bharat (wk), Dhruv Jurel (wk), R Ashwin, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Avesh Khan.
