BCCI presents specially-designed 'Champions' ring for India's T20 World Cup 2024 winners

The BCCI has taken inspiration from popular American sports leagues like NBA and the NFL as they presented India's T20 World Cup 2024 winning squad with stunning 'Champions' rings during the recent Naman Awards. Each player got the special ring during the event on February 1, in the presence of stalwarts like Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar, among others in Mumbai.

It was during this time the BCCI decided to pay tribute to the T20 World Cup winners with special rings. The BCCI uploaded a video on their social media handles on Friday, February 7, showing the mesmerising ring from different angles.

The ring has the Ashoka chakra at the top and each one has the player's name engraved on it, along with their jersey number. The ring also showed the contributions made by each player during the matches as India remained unbeaten in the competition, winning the title after beating South Africa in a nerve-wracking final on June 29 against South Africa in Barbados.

The beautiful ring is made of gold and has diamonds embedded in it to give it an awe-inspiring look. Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya were among the stars who were bestowed with the rings during the function.

"Presenting #TeamIndia with their CHAMPIONS RING to honour their flawless campaign in the #T20WorldCup. Diamonds may be forever, but this win certainly is immortalised in a billion hearts. These memories will 'Ring' loud and live with us forever," BCCI wrote on 'X'.

For the unversed, the NBA honours its champions by giving rings, and this tradition has been going on since 1947. In the NFL, rings are awarded to the Super Bowl winners each season. Major League Baseball was the first league to use the award, and it's a tradition that continues in the US. Even in WWE, Hall of Fame inductees are presented with rings as a mark of respect for their contributions.
