Some big stars have come through the ranks of U-19 cricket and this is where the cricketing world has witnessed some gems. There are also some iconic and unique moments during tournaments featuring these talented teenagers who go on to represent the nation through U19 tournaments.

There were some unofficial Test matches which are being played between South Africa U19 and England U19, at Stellenbosch. This was the first unofficial Test where the England U19 side, led by Archie Vaughan, and the South Africa U19 team were captained by Bennie Hansen where we saw one of the rarest dismissals in cricket history.

The batter who was the victim was England batter Aaryan Sawant and this dismissal came in the 31st over of the second innings. It was flighted delivery by Jason Rowles on which Sawant attempted a slog sweep, which ricocheted off Jorich Van Schalkwyk’s helmet who was fielding at short leg and went on to hit the stumps as the batter was caught outside his crease.

This was one of the most unusual dismissals in red ball cricket where Sawant was dismissed for 11. However, this dismissal also did some damage to the South African U19 squad as well where Van Schalkwyk went down after the blow to the helmet and was barely moving after taking the blow.

The top scorer for England U19 in the second innings was Thomas Rew who scored 71 off 71 deliveries, which included 12 boundaries.
