India defeated Australia by 6 wickets in the second Test
Team India's dominance in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 is being lauded to an extent that even former India legends are gathering to cheer for and celebrate India's success against Australia in the first two matches.
India defeated Australia by six wickets in the second Test to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the four-match Test series and thus also retained the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023. They have also inched closer to finalising their spot in the coveted World Test Championship final on June 7 at The Oval, London.
Celebrated India’s win: 83 heroes reunion delights fans
A special team decided to celebrate current team India's victory in a unique way. They were none other than the world champions from the 1983 World Cup, Kapil Dev & Co. Legends Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, Kirti Azad and Madan Lal caught up at the Delhi residence of their then skipper Kapil Dev for a sweet reunion and to cheer for India's convincing wins over Australia. They spent the evening while watching cricket, having dinner and spending some quality time with each other.
“Wonderful to catch up with the Delhi boys of the ‘83 World Cup team at skipper Kapil’s home. Celebrated India’s win in the Delhi Test. Great dinner, great conversations and a great evening,” Sunil Gavaskar's post on instagram read as he shared a picture of the group for fans.
Gavaskar's then-teammate Ravi Shastri took to the micro-blogging site Twitter to share another picture of the gathering and expressed his delight over catching up with his old friends and watching some exciting cricket being played by India.
“Enjoying a great evening at the Captain’s home in the capital with my colleagues of 83 after India’s sweeping success,” read Shastri's post on Twitter.
The third Test of the ongoing series is scheduled to commence from March 1, 2023, and will be played at the Holkar Stadium in Indore after being relocated from Dharamshala. Until then, the Indian players have decided to spend a much needed break with their families before resuming international duties.
